Every year, Stonecoast enrols a rounded figure of 100 students in its four major genres. No matter the number of applications it receives for that year, the number of students accepted will be approximately one hundred.

The Stonecoast MFA Program is now popular; hence the number of applications keeps increasing every admission year. To maintain a balance in each of the genres, admitted students are estimated to be 100.

If you wish to be among the lucky students that will get accepted to the Stonecoast MFA Program in Creative Writing, you need to meet up with the admission requirements and beat other applicants at it.

How does Admission work at Stonecoast MFA?

As I mentioned earlier, the creative writing at Stonecoast MFA is a graduate program, which is also one of the reasons for its low acceptance rate. Admission is highly selective; therefore, applicants must meet up with requirements before they can be selected.

The basis for admission is manuscript samples and past educational experience in creative writing. You will be asked to provide the necessary proof for these. Once you submit your application, it will be reviewed during two annual admission cycles.

These two cycles depend on when the student starts their MFA program. The first review cycle begins in late February, and successful applicants are to resume the program during the summer residency/fall semester.

On the other hand, the second review cycle begins in late August, and successful applicants are expected to start their MFA during the winter residency/spring semester. However, the key to a successful application is submitting your materials early.

While sending in your application, you will be asked to provide documents like transcripts which might take a long time to obtain. To prevent any delay, it is advised that you get this and any other important material ready as soon as possible.

What if I don’t have all my materials ready?

It is most likely that any applicant who has not gotten all their materials ready will wait before completing the online portion of their application. However, this is not advised as it might delay your admission process.

Instead of waiting for all your materials to be ready, submit the ones already available. Other materials, like supporting materials, can be submitted after completing the online form. Let’s have a look at the admission requirements.
