On August 15^th, 2015, Azman Air Flights started its inflight magazine that runs quarterly titled “Fly Safe Magazines”. The magazines were first shared at the airline’s hub airport in Kano as free copies among the staff and passengers before going into the public’.

Why was Azman Flight Suspended?

Azman flight was suspended based on the improper maintenance procedure, undercarriage on Azman Air Boeing 737 and a quite number of tire failures.

On 10^th February 2023, there was a breach occurred on the plane at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at Abuja during a routine NCAA inspection. What was this safety breach? An Azman Air engineer was spotted replacing the right-hand main landing wheel assembly (3 and 4) without referring to Boeing’s maintenance manual. This led to a breach in the assembly. The aircraft that was spotted was a 23.6 year old Boeing 737 – 500 with the registration number 5N – SYS.

What worsens the situation that led to their suspension is that a day after, during the takeoff from the Kaduna International Airport, a component of the aircraft was spotted to have fallen. Air Traffic Control immediately notified the captain who insisted to go on with the flight to Lagos. And, Upon arriving at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, the captain failed to make an entry notification on the aircraft technical logbook. When the aircraft was inspected it was discovered that the component that failed earlier was the heat shield from the number three landing gear.

As a result of this, on March 19^th, 2021, NCAA described the situation as a “clear and strong indication of an accident chain formation in its final stages.” This led to their suspension for six weeks.

Is Azman Air Still Working?

On May 3^rd, 2023, Azman Air was cleared by the Nigerian Aviation Authorities after a six months suspension to resume flying. So presently, flights are opened to be booked at Azman Air.
